The Black Hole

Named for its "Black Hole" pattern of heartwood, The Black Hole is an edge grain cutting board that features a juice groove.  The top and bottom edges are chamfered.

This is a very unique board.  While running wood through my table saw, I came across these book-matched pieces of walnut.  When put side by side, the pattern of the heartwood suddenly created what looked like a Black Hole.  I decided to laminate these pieces together, highlight the design with strips of Maple, and found darker pieces of Walnut for the rest of the board.  This would be a great gift for the chef in your life who is also a space enthusiast!
